Book worms with a green thumb are invited to the Avenel Library, where ecologist Kate Wall will be visiting.
Ms Wall’s visit on Saturday, May 3, at 10am, will be an opportunity for attendees to strengthen their gardening skills.
Ms Wall is an experienced gardening coach based in Brisbane who sets out to empower gardeners in a holistic approach.
Her passion for weed management, edible weeds and sustainable gardening developed with her career change from environmental science to professional gardening following the 2011 floods that impacted her community.
Her volunteer efforts to restore flooded gardens earned her several awards and established her as a leading horticulturalist in the field of flood recovery.
Ms Wall has written three books, titled Working with Weeds, Gardening After a Flood, and Earth Repair Gardening.
These works have seen major peer recognition and industry awards, including the 2021 Award of Merit from the Australian Institute of Horticulture for Working with Weeds.
In 2022, she was awarded the Anita Boucher Award from the Horticulture Media Association Australia for her work in helping gardeners recover from flooding.
