This momentous event was a tribute to the late Fred Grimwade AO, a stalwart who dedicated his life to the betterment of the region.
Among the attendees were Mrs Joan Grimwade, Mr Martin Grimwade, and Mrs Jane Grimwade, the wife, son, and daughter-in-law of the esteemed figure.
Fred Grimwade's commitment to the region was unwavering, serving diligently on the council of the Seymour Agricultural and Pastoral Society for an impressive span of over 25 years.
His contributions were pivotal to the Society's achievements. Furthermore, he represented the area in the Victorian Parliament for two decades, taking up the mantle of the President of the Legislative Council from 1979 until 1985.
His dedication to local governance was further evident in his role as a Pyalong Shire Councillor.
In acknowledgement of his extensive service to the Victorian Parliament, agriculture, and the community at large, Mr Grimwade was bestowed the honour of being an Officer of the Order of Australia in 1987.
This prestigious recognition was a testament to his lifelong dedication and service.
