Seymour recorded 34mm of rainfall in the 30 minutes to 9.26pm on Wednesday, January 3.
At 12.01am, January 4, it was advised that the immediate threat of flash flooding had passed.
However, dangerous hazards may still be present, including floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees.
Residents are advised they can return to their regular activities but should be aware of any hazards in the area.
Seymour SES responded to 21 RFAs during the storm.
The majority of the calls were for trees down over roads, some building damage, and flooding.
Oak St, Victoria St, and Anzac Ave experienced flash flooding, with one car stalling at the Oak St roundabout after driving into floodwater.
At 9.35pm, the Seymour SES unit opened an incident control point, with Victoria Police and the CFA in attendance.
The CFA provided two chainsaw crews from Seymour and Hildene, who assisted the SES members with many tree jobs and filling sandbags.
Other roads attended by crews were Aerodrome Rd at Avenel; the Bridal Track, Glenaroua; Seymour Avenel Rd; and Seymour Tooborac Rd due to trees that blocked the road.
Seymour SES has confirmed that all the roads affected are now cleared and open.
Here is advice from the SES:
- Floodwater is dangerous — do not enter floodwater.
- Find alternative travel routes if roads or underpasses are flooded.
- Be aware of driving hazards such as mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees.
If your home or business has been flooded:
- Check for building damage before you enter.
- Have all electrical and gas equipment professionally tested before use.
- Clean and dry out the building as soon as possible.
