A convoy or motorbikes and cars travelled to the five stops on the Poker Run, with others taking advantage of the coach.
Coordinated by the Deniliquin Motorcycle Riders group, the fun day was arranged as a fundraiser for Deniliquin Can Assist.
And group member Adrian Dario said it was such a success, it’s likely to become an annual event.
“The support was amazing, and the people of Deniliquin and district should be very proud,” Mr Dario said.
“Everyone came in the rain, and they were there for a great cause.
“A big congratulations to the locals who showed up, and those from out of town. For many, this fundraiser was an event close to their hearts.
“For the first run, we’re over the moon with the response, and we’re confident we’ll have the support to continue in future years.”
The run started at the Edward River Hotel for registrations, after which the convoy travelled to Pretty Pine, Conargo, Blighty and then back to the Edward River Hotel.
At each stop, there were raffles for Can Assist, and Poker Run participants collected a card for their poker hand.
The lunch at Conargo was provided by the Conargo Hall Committee, who offered to donate their proceeds.
During the lunch, there was a presentation from Can Assist and Breannon Davies shared her cancer journey and how Can Assist has supported her.
Deniliquin Poker Run committee chair Ray Marsh said it was a great day overall.
“Our ambassadors - Breannon and her family - had a great day, and I am in awe of them and what they have been through,” Mr Marsh said.
“While we may have been down on numbers because of the rain, everyone was in great spirits.
“And we want to thank our sponsors. We are eternally grateful because this would not have been possible without them.”
At the time of going to print yesterday, and fundraising tally from the event was still being finalised.
