The fourth-generation farmer, originally from Lockington and now a seasoned actor, is returning to Australia to play his part in the Farm Angels fundraiser by supplying his own brand of beer — travla — to the Aussie Hotel in Shepparton on Friday, August 23.
Farm Angels aims to respond to the welfare needs of primary producers impacted by prolonged drought and other agricultural pressures.
Five dollars from each $10 pint of travla beer sold at Jack’s Bar at the Aussie Hotel after 4pm on Friday will go towards the charity.
Travla beer national sales manager Tina Rankins said Travis’ experience on his family farm at Lockington “certainly” had an influence on his input to Farm Angels.
“He experienced his father needing to have a mob of sheep put down due to drought,” Ms Rankins said.
“So Trav has jumped on board to be an ambassador for Farm Angels.”
Mr Fimmel said he knew that farmers were raised to “cop a lot”.
“That shouldn’t mean they have to do it alone; they are the backbone to our country,” he said.
“Produce doesn’t get made at your local grocery stores; it gets made in our heartlands.
“So I’ll be chucking on my flanno on August 23.”
Travla regional sales manager Simon Holmes married a fourth-generation dairy farmer and so is aware of the importance of such a charity.
“It’s a great cause,” Mr Holmes said.
“Every dollar from the donations goes straight to Farm Angels and then Travis will match it dollar-for-dollar.
“And we want people to wear flannelette shirts — that’s the thing.
“Bring them out of the cupboard or go to the op shop, but everyone’s got one.”
