The Seymour cemetery needs more lawn grave area and will apply to the Department of Health and Human Services for funding.
The Trust is also working with local community groups to fund improvements not covered by the department.
Part of the funding process is to get community consultation on the masterplan, which will include a new lawn area, a public toilet, a shelter and seats, a rotunda, beautification of the cemetery and improvements to the shed and works yard.
“We would like to hear opinions of our plan from the community before we finalise the documents.
“This would usually occur at a public meeting but that’s not possible at present,” Cemetery Trust chairperson Angela Wallis said.
“The cemetery is a community asset and the trust hopes the community will take an interest in the planning and development.
“We welcome any and all comments and they will be considered when submitting the application for funding.”
