The Irrigation Farmers Network will hold the Irrigation Insights Conference on Wednesday and Thursday, July 24 and 25.
With a focus on ‘future-proofing irrigated farm systems’, the event wil feature an inspiring line-up of renowned speakers, engaging sessions and networking opportunities.
Program highlights include exploring marketing and consumer trends with Ron Storey (Storey Marketing, AEGIC chair and GLNC chair), new technology in weed control with Michael Walsh (Gulbali Institute for Agriculture, Water and Environment at Charles Sturt University) and the latest advances in nitrogen fertiliser with Helen Suter (School of Agriculture, Food and Ecosystem Sciences, Faculty of Science at the University of Melbourne).
Another highlight is hearing from farmers about their farm systems. An over-the-gate practices and innovation panel includes Cam Robertson from Finley and James Sandford from Deniliquin.
Also on the program is cotton for southern regions with Kieran O’Keeffe (CottonInfo) and exploring best-management practices for summer crops and forage with Yvette Williams (Murray Dairy).
To close the day, people will be inspired by the story of the Aussie Hay Runners, a group of individuals delivering not just hay but bundles of hope to farmers in need.
“We are excited to bring together a diverse range of experts and stakeholders to discuss the issues and opportunities in irrigated agriculture,” Irrigation Farmers Network executive officer Charlie Aves said.
“This year we are also hosting a gala dinner celebrating 25 years of our organisation and local RD&E for farmers. We have Renee Anderson, a cotton grower from Queensland and an ag advocate, as our special guest speaker,” she said.
“Our sponsors will be on site in the trade area creating an opportunity for delegates to catch up with people about the latest varieties, irrigation systems, agtech and a whole range of products and services.”
This will include Water Partners, Rubicon Water, Eagle-I Machinery, Schedule It, Adama, Pioneer Seeds, AGT, AGF Seeds, GRDC and Advanced Ag.
The event runs from 9am to 4.30pm each day.
