Dr Dessau will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Fairley La Trobe Lecture put on by the Fairley Foundation in partnership with La Trobe University.
Dr Dessau spent eight years as Victorian Governor, hearing from thousands of Victorians from diverse backgrounds including farming, science, medicine, universities and business.
She will share achievements and challenges revealed to her as she travelled extensively in Victoria between 2015 and 2023.
The presentation will also navigate the strengths and challenges of multiculturalism and the essential roles of volunteering and leadership in communities.
The Fairley Foundation was established in 1965 with a bequest from Shepparton businessman and founder of SPC, Sir Andrew Fairley.
It supports the people of Shepparton by funding charitable organisations with an emphasis on improving education.
The Fairley La Trobe Lecture is a free two-hour public lecture, with Dr Dessau presenting for 40 minutes.
It will be held on Wednesday, July 24, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at Shepparton Art Museum at 530 Wyndham St, Shepparton.
Anyone wanting to listen to the lecture should just go along on the night. No booking is required.
