Kyabram CFA captain Tom Druggan said the CFA was alerted to the blaze at 256 Allan St at about 10pm when a member of the public noticed smoke coming out of the building.
Within six minutes, three fire trucks from Kyabram, two fire trucks from Tongala and an aerial pumper were deployed to the blaze.
The fire was brought under control within five minutes, and the aerial pumper was not needed, Mr Druggan said.
Mr Druggan said an early-stage investigation had concluded that a dryer in the southern end of the building was the source of the flames.
Nobody was inside the building at the time of the fire, and no-one was injured while putting out the fire.
Police seeking witnesses to Merrigum crash
Shepparton Highway Patrol officers are seeking public assistance as investigations into a fatal Merrigum crash continue.
On Friday, June 14 at 12.45pm emergency services were called to Ryan Rd between Fenaughty and Ford Rds where a car had crashed into another car and caught fire.
The identity of the driver of the vehicle is yet to be publicly released.
Shepparton Highway Patrol said officers were seeking the driver of a “dark red small hatch” that was parked near the scene at 1.20pm and drove south along Ryan Rd shortly after. Police believe the motorist may have witnessed the collision.
