A popular part of the Do It In Deni Street Bazaar, the main race was run on a stretch of lawn guarded with a white picket fence.
Prior to the race the crowd just grew and grew.
Owners were loving coaxing their pooches to form and also carrying treats to gain whatever edge they could over the opposition.
The heats were well run, although some pooches failed to begin.
Some took off under the fence, and others had a play halfway down the stretch.
Dachshund Digby Campbell was the winner of the final race, closely followed by Lenny Martin and then Minerva Smith in third.
Organiser Justine Keech said “great fun was had by all.”
“Special mention to an ageing Mr Schnitzel who is now very much in the veteran status, but came home strongly,” she said.
“For the third year in a row, Kendrich Keech failed to finish.”
Some of the cute sausages came in fancy dress for the costume portion of the event.
And is was Deni dog Lenny Martin - Karen Martin’s beloved pet - who won with his dragon costume.
Mr Schnitzel, in his Lion costume, also had the crowd roaring and Pepper added a touch of bling.
