A $645,289 contract was awarded to Mawson Constructions for the Marlboro Dve, Kialla development road upgrade, with works involving the construction of road pavement and drainage works, roundabout and concrete footpath to begin in May and be completed by June.
The $222,733 renewal of footpaths at Shepparton’s Monash Park was awarded to Cleaves Earthmoving and Drainage to provide a compliant connecting footpath network in and around the park, with works under way and to be completed by the end of February.
Stantec Australia will prepare an exploratory study for the Goulburn River Trail after receiving the $176,309 contract.
This follows a feasibility study and development report compiled by the Goulburn River Trails stakeholder group, which seeks to develop a 46km multi-use trail from Shepparton to Murchison.
The exploratory study is excepted to be finished late this year and will help council understand the cost and infrastructure requirements of any trail before detailed designs and costings are prepared.
About $100,000 was awarded to Urban Enterprise for the development of the Economic Development Visitor Economy and Major Events Strategy — identifying opportunities to promote participation, visitation, investment and employment growth.
The strategy would also take into account the recent floods, COVID-19 and changes to how businesses operate.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali congratulated the successful businesses.
“It is always great to note the awarding of these contracts at our council meetings, particularly for works that are important to the growth and development of our region,” he said.
“We look forward to seeing these works completed, in particular the footpath renewal at Monash Park and Marlboro Dve development road upgrade — we have no doubt the community will benefit from these works.”
Tenders are currently under evaluation for a detailed design of Murchison Recreation Reserve Pavilion, landscaping at McLennan St, Mooroopna, and a detailed design of Shepparton and Ardmona resource recovery centre upgrades.
