The committee’s tireless efforts came to a successful conclusion with the Back to School Trivia night on Friday, which attracted about 180 competitors.
The fun night was hosted at the Deniliquin Rams Football & Netball Club’s clubrooms, and P&C member Leanne Mulham said the club donated use of the hall and bar profits to bolster the fundraising total.
“The trivia rounds tested teams’ maths, history, arts, and English knowledge, along with tower building and plane design skills, with bonus points awarded to the best Nutbush dancers,” Mrs Mulham said.
“Quiz master Michael Pisasale did a wonderful job of keeping the teams in order and Peata Smith and Karen Luckel kept the teams well fed, with breakfast, recess, lunch, and fruit break provided throughout the night.
“The silent auction, which commenced mid-week, was well supported, with over $2,000 raised from the items up for auction.
“The end of the night saw the drawing of the major raffle, which was also a huge success. Alex Glowrey won the first prize of a $500 travel voucher donated by Deniliquin Travel Centre, while Bec Todd took home the second prize of a $200 Deni Car Care voucher.
“The third prize, a Repco car care pack, was won by Linda Freshwater, and the fourth prize was a $50 fuel voucher donated by Purtill Group won by Callie Learmonth.
“Deniliquin High School’s P&C committee would like to thank all of the generous sponsors, volunteers, and those who supported the activities, either through buying a raffle ticket, bidding on silent auction items, or attending the event.
“It was wonderful to see our community supporting Deniliquin High School.”

Adding to the fundraising total was the school’s golf day in September, and fundraising undertaken at the Deniliquin Ute Muster.
“At the Ute Muster, the P&C manned the information centre over the two days, as well as providing breath testing for participants who eagerly lined up to see if they were right to drive home,” Mrs Mulham said.
“Many Ute Muster attendees happily provided gold coin donations or money from their wrist bands for the service.
“These funds are specifically earmarked for the award winning, week long Driver Education program for our Year 10 students.”
Mrs Mulham said the committee was “overwhelmed” with the support received from local sponsors, volunteers, and event attendees over the three events.
“The committee is looking forward to welcoming new members and continuing their work towards a better school for all.
“The P&C committee is actively seeking more members to join their ranks.
“Anyone who is interested in joining can attend meetings the fourt Tuesday of each month at 6pm at the school front office, or contact the committee at deniliquinhighschoolpandc@gmail.com to be on their regular email list.”
