Seymour Urban Landcare and BEAM Mitchell Environment Group joined forces on Saturday, March 4 to organise a Clean Up Australia Day event at Chittick Park in Seymour.
Rotary cleaned up the entrances to Seymour as part of their ongoing “Adopt a Road” initiative on Sunday, March 5.
They worked along the Goulburn Valley Hwy from the Seymour Golf Club to the town entrance and beyond, including Whiteheads Creek.
Landcare project co-ordinator Vanessa Malandrin said that compared to previous years, the Chittick Park’s ovals were in better condition, but closer to Wimble St and along the creek there was more rubbish.
“I was so surprised and happy to find out that five clean-up events had been organised around Seymour over that weekend,” Ms Malandrin said.
“We had 10 people in our group, including councillor Rhonda Sanderson, and in three and a half hours we managed to pick up more than a trailer load full of rubbish. A big thank you to all those that came to help on Saturday morning!"
