Another meeting will be hosted this Saturday, June 10, at 10am at Highlands Hall by the Strathbogie Responsible Renewables Community Group, who are concerned about the aesthetic impact of the project.
The May meetings discussed the scope and size of the project.
This weekend’s meeting, not hosted by Fera, will launch a community consultation survey.
Currently Avenel (east of the Hume Hwy), Tarcombe, Highlands, Ruffy, Caveat, Terip Terip, Upton Hill, Whitehead’s Creek, Ghin Ghin, Killingworth, Molesworth, Murrindindi, Alexandra and Yea localities are within or immediately bordering the investigation area.
Many issues were raised at May’s meetings by community members, including changes to the landscape, biodiversity and aesthetic of the Strathbogie Ranges, the community consultation process and noise impacts.
Fera committed to providing a detailed map to the community showing the most likely turbine locations, transmission line, underground powerlines between turbines and new and improved roads by the end of 2023.
Fera agreed to change the name of the project from Seymour Wind Farm to a name that reflects its location in the Strathbogie Ranges and alter proposed locations for wind turbines in response to neighbouring landholder requests to protect their sight lines.
Fera agreed to publish a report by ecological consultants on its website.
