The equipment helps improve air quality indoors, reducing the spread of COVID-19.
The money is being provided under the Victorian Government’s $60 million Small Business Ventilation Program.
Under the program, businesses can apply for two types of support:
• ventilation rebate: a $500 rebate to take immediate actions such as purchasing an air purifier or hiring a qualified tradesperson to undertake minor services to improve ventilation; or
• ventilation grant: matched grants between $1000 and $5000 to invest in larger projects such as building works or engaging professional services or equipment to improve ventilation.
Health Minister Mary-Anne Thomas said ventilation in workplaces was important during the colder months.
“Ventilation is an excellent investment in keeping staff and customers well and businesses open, and it’s one of many ways to protect the community, alongside masks, vaccinations and getting tested if you’re feeling unwell,” she said.
Small Business Minister Jaala Pulford urged businesses to apply for the grants.
“The program has delivered great results for many small businesses and I encourage more to take it up, particularly as customers look to stay warm indoors this winter,” she said.
Applications will be assessed for eligibility on a first-come, first-served basis until 11pm on Thursday, September 8, or when funds are exhausted.
