Nagambie WW2 veteran Bruce Forbes’ service to the RSL was recognised recently.

Nagambie RSL president David Keall presented Mr Forbes, 95, with a framed 60-year membership certificate from RSL Australia on October 3 in front of his daughter Sandra Speck and nephew Brian Forbes.
Nagambie RSL vice-president Larry King, and Nagambie Healthcare hostel residents, staff, volunteers and visitors watched on as Mr Forbes accepted his award.
Mr Forbes joined the Nagambie RSL sub-branch in 1945 when he was demobbed from the army. He was not the only member of his family to enter the military, with his father serving in WWI and his brother in WWII.
The veteran married Caroline Henderson on March 24, 1951; he left the family business to his brother Lindsay and started a Massey Ferguson tractor business where Nagambie Equine and Rural is now.
Mr Forbes moved into the Nagambie Healthcare hostel facility a few years ago and was well known for his collections of his father’s war memorabilia.
