On Sunday, October 6 at 10.30am, bring along your favourite animal and have him or her blessed at St John’s Nagambie.
All over the world, the feast of St Francis is celebrated in October and it’s customary that in remembrance of St Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures, animals are led to the churches for a special ceremony called ‘Blessing of the Animals’.
Priest-in-charge Rev Richard Pennington will be conducting the non-denominational service in the church grounds, followed by a sausage sizzle.
Rev Richard said the blessing was a meaningful way to acknowledge the bond between people and their beloved pets, while also recognising the sacredness of all living creatures.
“This special service provides a wonderful opportunity to have your animals blessed, signifying gratitude for the companionship and joy animals bring into our lives,” he said.
The invitation isn’t limited to man’s best friend.
All pets are welcome, including horses, sheep, rabbits, chickens and even fish.
