The three-week series will feature roaming entertainment, food stalls and films on the big screen.
Funded with support from the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions, the series includes family-friendly films such as Space Jam: New Legacy, Mamma Mia and Sing 2. Entrance is free and the movies will be shown in Seymour, Wallan and Broadford.
Mitchell Shire Mayor Bill Chisholm said the event was a further sign of the community recovering from pandemic restrictions.
“Events have been few and far between during the COVID-19 pandemic and we’re excited to have them back,” he said.
“These events are a great chance to enjoy a night out with the family and support local hospitality providers.
“I want to thank the Victorian Government for their support to make these movie nights possible and I encourage everyone in Mitchell Shire and beyond to check it out.”
Space Jam, New Legacy will be shown at Goulburn Park, Seymour, on Saturday, April 23; Mamma Mia will be screened at Wallan’s Hadfield Park on Saturday, April 30; and Sing 2 will be played on the big screen at Lions Park in Broadford on Saturday, May 7.
Entertainment and food stalls will be available from 5pm each night, with the movie starting at 6.30pm. Movie-goers are encouraged to grab dinner from a local takeaway provider or some treats from one of the event food stalls.
With only limited seating and shelter, Mitchell Shire Council is advising individuals to bring a picnic rug or camping chair. As the weather is becoming cooler, coats and blankets have also been placed on council’s checklist.
