Joined by his wife Lyn, children Anthony, Jonathon, Paul and Rebecca and their families, Bill’s life was celebrated in great style.
The night included touching speeches and a video capturing a photo record of his life over the past several decades.
The photos highlighted Bill’s passions — his family, world travel and, of course, lawn bowls.
Also at the party were Bill’s siblings, including locals Allan, Johnny, Eileen and Margaret, and sister Christine, who had travelled from Adelaide for the event.
Relatives and friends came far and wide to wish their much-loved husband, father, poppy, uncle and good mate a big cheers to 80 years.
A show of hands during the speeches confirmed Bill is a friend for life with well over half the room having known him for between 40 and 80 years.
Bill is well-known around town. He is a life time member of both the Seymour Football Netball Club and the Seymour Bowling Club and a founding member of the Seymour Club.
The Solomon family has lived in Seymour for several generations and has run a local transport business since the days of horse and cart. Bill operated the business for many years before his retirement on his 65th birthday. His sons Anthony and Jono continue the family business today.
