Benalla Bushwalking Club members recently returned from their annual kids overnight hike, a great opportunity to show youngsters our magnificent region and get them interested in exploring it.
This year the group headed to Fitzgeralds Hut, on the Bogong High Plains.
Camping for two nights at the hut allowed time for a walk on the second day to Kelly's Hut, along Langford East aqueduct, passing Marm Point on the return journey.
Great weather and gentle gradients gave walkers plenty of time to drink in the amazing Alpine views, with grassy meadows, gnarled trees and colourful summer wildflowers.
In the evening, the group enjoyed a campfire with marshmallows, essential on a kids hike, and a quiz before watching the stunning sunset.
Those who were up early in the morning also witnessed a beautiful, colourful north-east sunrise.
Walk leader Gill Sydes said it was a great group of hikers, with young Kyle Margat enjoying his first overnight hike.
