From July 7 to July 14, this year’s theme ‘Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud’ will highlight the resilience, pride and enduring spirit of the world’s oldest continuous culture.
This week is more than just events; it’s about celebrating the movement highlighting the contributions and struggles of First Nations peoples.
It reminds all Australians of the rich cultural tapestry that forms the backbone of our nation, fostering understanding, respect and reconciliation.
It celebrates the resilience and strength of these communities, acknowledging the past and striving for a better future together.
Njernda Aboriginal Corporation members are inviting all community members to celebrate with them for morning tea on Monday, July 8.
Njernda Health and Aging is hosting the morning tea from 10am to noon.
A Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country will be held, followed by guest speeches and a spread of Indigenous foods.

A morning tea will also held on Tuesday, July 9, at Echuca Regional Health Cancer and Wellness Centre.
Campaspe Regional Libraries will also run sessions at Echuca and Tongala libraries this week to celebrate and acknowledge the week.
On Monday, children will have the chance to decorate an Indigenous-designed serpent at Echuca library.
And on Tuesday at Tongala, children can create a wooden Indigenous design. Bookings are essential for sessions.
During the week, people can also Walk Through the Decades with a visit to the photo exhibition at Foundry Arts Space.
