A thousand reasons to smile: Seymour Carols by Candlelight a hit on return

Seymour recorded a triumphant return to Carols by Candlelight following two years of cancellations thanks to coronavirus restrictions.

The Lions Club of Seymour Goulburn-run event was one of the best-attended carols events in recent memory.

Up to 1000 people were at Goulburn Park singing and dancing, with the event running from 7.30pm to just after 9pm on a perfect summer’s night.

A cheque was presented to Ambulatory Care Centre in Seymour, while there were performances from Brigid DeNeefe, the Mitchell Shire Concert Band, Pastors’ Apprentices and a combined church choir.

Lions Club of Seymour Goulburn committee member Reggie Young said it was great to see so many people in attendance.

“Brigid was brilliant, a true performer who was able to get people out of their seats and get the kids dancing at the front of the stage,” Ms Young said.

“A few of the older Lions said it was one of the biggest carols they’d seen in a long time.”
