Past students, teachers and the Nagambie community came together last month to celebrate St Joseph’s Primary School’s centenary.
Taking place from Friday, March 11 to Sunday, March 13, the event was also attended by Federal Member for Nicholls Damian Drum, director of Catholic Education Paul Desmond and other church and education leaders.

Principal Maree Findlay was delighted with the celebrations. A highlight for Ms Findlay was seeing past students, especially those in their 70s and 80s, “reeling off names of classmates as if it was yesterday”.
“Visitors were most excited to be going thorough these building as many had not seen them for many years, if at all, especially the convent and presbytery,” she said.
“Visitors spent much time in the current classrooms looking at all the photos and memorabilia that was on display.”
A special feature for the centenary celebrations was the ‘living history’ videos played across the classrooms. The videos featured past students, teachers, principals and parents who shared memories from their time at St Joseph’s.
Ms Findlay said the videos were a fantastic way to keep stories and memories alive before they were lost or forgotten.
Those interested in seeing the videos are encouraged to contact the school.
Other highlights of the weekend included a gathering of more than 130 alumni at the Nagambie Lakes Hotel for dinner and drinks and a fully attended Sunday Mass with past teachers and students.
