The team at Seymour Mowing and Maintenance has the skills and experience to make your lawn the best on the street and they can do it while adhering to the COVID-19 restrictions.
Seymour’s Shawn Hoskin was inspired to start a mowing and maintenance business after a trip to the beach with his family.
“We passed a handful of vehicles for mowing businesses on the way home and I got into a discussion about them with my wife, Sandy,” he said.
“She could see how passionate I was about it and looked across at me and said, ‘this is what you should be doing’.
“From that day, Seymour Mowing and Maintenance was inevitable and we started trading a week later.
“I knew I had plenty of expertise in the area of garden and landscaping and had the equipment, qualifications, skills and time to be able to make it on my own.”
The business is a local affair, with Shawn working with several local contractors on larger jobs and Sandy taking care of the behind-the-scenes work and occasionally helping on jobs.
“We like the idea of keeping our business local to Seymour and surrounding areas and will look at employing a local staff when our business is ready to expand,” Shawn said.
“Aside from the obvious mowing, trimming, weeding, pruning and gardening services that are offered, I also specialise in constructing and installing new gardens and revamping existing gardens, lawn and paved spaces.
“We are happy to take on any job whether it be commercial, residential acreage or farmland and on any sized properties or lots. No property is too big or small.
“We’re a registered Workcover provider, Department of Veteran Affairs provider and provide services to customers with NDIS funding.
“I am fully insured and can provide a current police check as needed. We service all surrounding areas to Seymour, including Broadford, Tallarook, Puckapunyal, Hilldene, Nagambie, Avenel and Trawool.”
Shawn said the COVID-19 pandemic had a major impact on his business, but he was seeing it as a chance to adapt and find new customers.
“The past couple of months have been difficult. Not only has it hindered our workload, but we have also had to adapt and reassure our new and existing customers that our practices are safe and within the government’s guidelines,” he said.
“I’m hoping that once coronavirus has subsided a little that the spring season will be well on its way and weather will be just right for business to improve again.”
