Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said serious issues had been raised about the conduct of Ipswich West MP Jim Madden, confirming the clerk of parliament would look into allegations.
The accusations, which have been published by The Australian newspaper, include misusing taxpayer funds to pay for artwork.
"There have been some serious issues that have been raised. I would hope that that investigation is done as quickly as possible," Ms Palaszczuk said on Tuesday.
"Hopefully that'll be concluded before next week. Let the investigation run its course and let's not pre-empt that investigation."
The premier said she was concerned by the allegations.
"I expect very high standards from all of my MPs. In fact, we expect high standards from MPs in general," she said.
"These matters are being investigated - they have been referred to the appropriate authorities and we need to let them take their natural course."
Ms Palaszczuk said it would be inappropriate to comment further on the investigation.
"It needs to be able to be investigated, free from any political commentary from me."
Mr Madden and Queensland Labor have been contacted for comment.
AAP is not implying any wrongdoing on the part of Mr Madden.
