Koala encounter

GV Wardrobe pop-up shop
GV Wardrobe is coming to life with its first ever pop-up shop. More than 1600 items of second-hand clothing will be on offer at the two-day store, pieces selling for $10 each. Cash and card will be available. Saturday’s shop will open from noon to 5pm and Sunday’s from 9am to 2pm, both at Mooroopna’s MG O'Brien Hall at 41 McLennan St.
SAM — Indigenous Ceramic Award exhibition opening
Shepparton Art Museum will open the ICA exhibition, which unveils selected submissions to its Indigenous Ceramic Award from artists across the nation. It is available for viewing at SAM, 530 Wyndham St, Shepparton. The museum is open from 10am to 4pm.
GOTAFE and La Trobe Shepparton open day
To save students the leg work, Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE and La Trobe University are opening their Fryers St campuses. Potential students will have the chance to get to know the facilities, the staff and courses all with free food, coffee and live music. GOTAFE’s open day will take place at 152-200 Fryers St, from 10am to 2pm while La Trobe University’s at 210 Fryers St, Shepparton will run from 10am to 1pm.
Merrigum Museum opening
Based on an iconic early 20th-century general store, the Merrigum Museum is now home to hundreds of households objects, along with the largest collection of agricultural machinery, equipment and tools in the Goulburn Valley. The museum at 111-113 Waverley Ave, Merrigum is open from 10am to 3pm, $5 for entry.

Girgarre Farmers’ Produce and Craft Market
Held on the second Sunday of each month, the Girgarre farmers’ market is a family-friendly day out. Patrons can stroll through the assortment of stalls of fresh fruit and vegetables, all the way through to bacon and egg muffins and coffee, all while being serenaded by the sounds of live music. Open from 8.30am to noon at Progress Park Reserve.

Country Music for charity
On Thursday, August 18 well-renowned artist Brendan Scott will perform at the Cricketer’s Arms Hotel. Doors open at 11.30am with meals at noon. Entry is $10, with proceeds to go to those experiencing homelessness. Entry for the music begins at 1pm and the show concludes at 4pm. For bookings call Joyce on 0408 218 411.
Shepparton Senior Citizens
The senior citizens are inviting new members to join the Shepparton Seniors Club at 122-132 Welsford St, Shepparton. Membership is $10. The birthday concert is on Thursday, August 25, with invitation only. For inquiries contact Judith on 0409 225 548.
Round-robin tennis tournament
Shepparton and District Tennis Association invites everyone for winter round-robin tennis on Saturdays. Players to sign up by 1.15pm for three sets of tennis at $2 per week.

Solar City Country Music Club
Callum Gleeson will be the guest artist at the Solar City Country Club event on Sunday, August 14, with band The Night Owls.
Held at the Shepparton Harness Racing Club, 7580 Goulburn Valley Hwy, Kialla, from noon to 5pm.
Nifty-fiftys, raffles, meat trays and a barbecue lunch will be available for purchase; face masks must be worn unless eating or drinking.

Calling all bagpipers
Goulburn Valley Pipes and Drums members desperately need experienced pipers and drummers to join the band. Members would also welcome people wishing to learn to play the bagpipes or side, tenor or bass drum.

Over 60s Friendship Group (Shepparton and surroundings areas)
A friendly social group that meets on the second Tuesday of each month at Casablanca Restaurant, 125 High St, Shepparton for dinner at 6pm and to work out the coming months’ outings.
Singles, singles and friend/s and couples from Shepparton and the surrounding area are welcome. There is no committee, fees or obligation to attend outings. Ideas on venues, outings, places of interest to explore and fun activities are welcome.
